Gladys T. Pielaszczyk, 98, of Newport News, passed away on Nov. 2, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Pielaszczyk, and her sisters.
She leaves her son, John S. Pielaszczyk and his wife Donna and their children, Adam, Jude Santana, Nathan, Kyle, Saul, and Linda; two granddaughters-in-law, Emily Khayat and Shelly Santana; two great-granddaughters, Victoria and Miranda; and her daughter, Christina E. Cramer and her husband, Thomas M. Cramer.
Gladys went to school in Clinton, Mass., and worked in the silk and cotton textile mills in Lowell, Mass., and in New Hampshire. She was the manager of a general merchandise store for many years in Worcester, Mass., where she lived most of her life. She moved to Gloucester in 1990 and was a member of Church of St. Therese, The Theresians, Friends of Dragon Run and the Native Plant Society. She enjoyed many years at Bay Aging Gloucester Senior Center as a member and volunteer. She always thought of the other person and made many phone calls and visits to the healthy and the sick, and the shut-ins. Gladys enjoyed exercise and dancing. She had a shy, quiet way about her, always downplayed her importance, and kept a positive outlook on life.
A service of Christian Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Gloucester. Graveside interment services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2011 at Worcester County Memorial Park, Garden of Prayer, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, in our mother’s memory, donations may be made to Church of St. Therese, 6262 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061 or Bay Aging Gloucester Senior Center, P.O. Box 475, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
