Gloucester’s Courthouse Restaurant was abuzz with activity last Thursday as people filled the place to enjoy its last free community Thanksgiving dinner and show their love to owners Doug and Kim Hibbs, who officially retired earlier in the week (although they gladly came back out of retirement for this celebration). Doug and Kim and their son Josh, from left in front, are shown with volunteers Brenda Smith and, in back from left, Shawn Hillman and Gilby White in the busy kitchen. Smith, Hillman and White were just a few of the many volunteers who came to support this popular event. Other community Thanksgiving dinners were held at churches in Gloucester and Mathews counties (see photos in Church section).
