Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism’s STAR program got a boost earlier this month, receiving a $2,000 donation from the Abingdon Ruritan Club. STAR is a recreation-based program for children ages 5 to 18 years with special needs. Abingdon Ruritans’ Public Services Committee chair Raven Cash presented the donation to Ron Alston, who leads the STAR program.
