The Abingdon Ruritan Club recently presented Karen Fary of the Giving Garden Foundation, at right, a $480 donation. The money was raised during a recent clam chowder sale put on by the club. The Giving Garden Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded by four Gloucester residents. The foundation’s mission is to provide financial assistance to cancer patients residing in Gloucester and Mathews counties and to bridge the gap between existing resources and patients’ unmet needs by providing an online database of other local, state and national resources. Presenting Fary the check was Jimmy Leiffer, who was in charge of the clam chowder sale.
