Karin Garner, at left, of the Giving Garden Foundation is shown receiving a $3,000 check from Mary Lou Privott, past president of the Abingdon Ruritan Club, on behalf of the club. The Giving Garden provides financial assistance to cancer patients residing in Gloucester and Mathews counties. Its efforts through the years have enabled many cancer victims in the community to receive benefits that they otherwise would not have gotten. “The Abingdon Ruritan Club is proud to support this organization through proceeds coming from two Seafood Festivals each year and other fundraisers,” a release stated.
