What’s at stake for our schools this November? Everything. The future direction of our schools depends in large part on the quality of our school board members. School board members need to be very knowledgeable, hard-working and enthusiastic about our schools and being on the school board. There are only three candidates who fit the bill.
Dr. Mari Gibbs has a doctorate in Educational Leadership and is a current, dynamic member of the Mathews County School Board who, in the past year, has proven herself and shifted the focus of the board onto student achievement, which is where it should be. Calvin Morgan, a man of steady and solid character, is a retired MHS carpentry teacher and longtime community leader who knows the needs of our schools from the inside out.
