The Gloucester High School wrestling team placed first in Saturday’s Mathews Invitational hosted at Mathews High School. The Dukes won with a total of 251 points with several varsity wrestlers who made the podium in the top three for their respective weight classes.
Top finishers included Jackzel Quinones (106 lbs.), Chase Adams (113 lbs.), David Lewis (120 lbs.), Aiden Sheesley (126 lbs.), Christian Hartz (132 lbs.), Micah Bodiford (138 lbs.), Rylan Altrath (144 lbs.), Corey Skay (150lbs.), Corey Skay (150 lbs.), Karl Dean (165 lbs.) and Kenneth Hamilton (175 lbs.).Placing first in their weight classes were Adams, Lewis, Sheesley, Hartz, Skay, Dean and Hamilton. Runner ups in their respective weight classes were Quinones and Bodiford. Altrath placed third at 144 lbs.
The Gloucester Dukes were scheduled to compete in their last home meet of the season yesterday, but that has been postponed to Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the GHS gym. This will also be the team's Senior Night.
