Gloucester High School wrestlers finished fourth in the Colon E. Baker Tournament held at Great Bridge High School on Friday and Saturday and added another pair of wins over Peninsula opponents prior to the winter break.
Poquoson won the Baker event with 212.5 points, followed by Chantilly with 168.5, Grassfield at 142.5 and the Dukes with 133.5. Anthony Monahan (113 lbs.) was the only Gloucester grappler to win his class, with five pins and a decision.
Matt Favazzo tallied five pins, a decision win and a loss for third place at 106. Placing fourth were Isaac Chaney at 126, A.J. Ransom at 145 and Jerry Woodlief at 285. Hunter Owens was fifth at 132 and Nathaniel VanNess was sixth at 220.
The Dukes dominated Peninsula foes Woodside and Heritage on the Hurricanes’ mats on Dec. 18. Gloucester beat the Wolverines 60-22 and the hosts 64-7.
