GHS wrestlers dominate Patriots, Bruins

Gloucester High School grapplers continued to dominate their opponents on the mats in recent wrestling action. In a tri-match at Bethel High School on Dec. 11, the Dukes beat Denbigh, 67-12, and the host Bruins, 54-18.

 

Pinning their Denbigh opponents were Anthony Monahan at 120 in 39 seconds, Isaac Chaney at 132 in 2:46, Aaron Paar at 138 in 1:10, John-Nathan Walker at 152 in 3:09, Russell Simpson at 160 in 33 seconds, Levi Reeves at 182 in 4:03 and Jerry Woodlief at 285 in 40 seconds. 

 

Also, Will Neikirk at 113 won by major decision and Nathaniel VanNess at 220 won by decision. Forfeits went to Matthew Favazzo at 106, Michaela Foley at 126 and A.J. Ransom at 145. Gloucester gave up forfeits at 170 and 195.

 

 

Winning for the Dukes by pinning their Bethel opponents were Monahan in 2:14, Ransom in 3:40, Walker in 30 seconds, Reeves in 37 seconds, VanNess in 4:26 and Woodlief in 2:46. Forfeits went to Favazzo, Foley and Simpson.
