GHS track teams place fourth in ‘home’ meet

With the track at Gloucester High School undergoing refurbishment, the GHS track and field teams traveled to Darling Stadium in Hampton last Thursday to host their first “home” meet of the season. 
The former Peninsula District schools from Hampton joined the Dukes in the meet, and both the Gloucester boys’ and girls’ teams placed fourth overall in team scoring. 
Scoring for GHS, Jasmin Scott won the mile race in 6:08.09 and was second in the 800 meter event in 2:40.47. Jada Wilson was fourth in the 200 meter dash in 29.75 and Mia Robinson was fifth in the 800 meter race in 2:48.13. 
Khadijah Payne won the discus with a throw of 96 feet and the shot put with 35’7” toss, a regional meet qualifying mark. Wendy Sparrer won the pole vault by clearing 8’6”, a conference-qualifying mark.
