The Gloucester High School track and field team has successfully competed in two Peninsula District meets and two invitationals in preparation for hosting its own GHS Invitational Meet on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
The team opened the season against Bethel and Woodside on March 22. The Gloucester girls won over both opponents but the boys’ team fell short by a few points. Freshman Natalie Bueker was third in the 100-meter dash in 13.68, second in the 400 meter in 1:02.93, and second in the high jump by clearing 4’11". Bueker also won the long jump with a leap of 15’7.5" and senior Jaelynn Bennett was third with a jump of 13’5.5".
Senior Elisabeth Drake won the mile in 5:51 and placed second in the 800-meter race in 2:43.48. Freshman Emily Manzanares was third in the mile in 5:58.60. Senior Jazmine Banks sent the discus 76’7.5" to win that event, junior Haley Lucas was second with a throw of 63’8"and freshman Khadijah...
