The Gloucester High School track and field team did exceptionally well at the Hampton Roads High School Showcase last weekend, with nearly every participating athlete qualifying for the Feb. 7 Peninsula District meet.
Kayla Sadler beat her personal best and qualified with a time of 3:20.38 in the 1000 meter race. Kevin Speray broke his personal record and qualified for the Eastern Region Meet with a time of 4:31.32 in the 1600 meter race. Speray also qualified for the district event with a time of 10:42.03 in the 3200 meter race.
Natalia Bueker topped her personal best in the 500 meter dash and was a district qualifier in that event and in the 300. Evan Wagner cleared 5’2" in the high jump to qualify for the Group AAA State Meet. Both Wagner and Bueker earned MileStat National Elite Athlete status with their performances.
