The Gloucester High School track and field teams participated in the Suffolk Invitational Meet hosted by Lakeland High School on Saturday. The Dukes set several personal records and season’s best marks during the Suffolk meet.
The GHS girls led the field with 26 points coming out of the field events but fell to eighth place with 40 points due to lack of depth in the running events.
Mia Robinson and Wendy Sparrer tied for first place in the pole vault, with both Gloucester girls clearing 8’6”, and qualified for the conference meet. Khadijah Payne was second in the shot put with a throw of 34’11.5” to qualify for the regional meet. She threw the discus 96’10” for second place and a conference meet bid.
Also competing for the GHS girls were Jada Wilson, Malia Ward and Bryanna Carter in the running events.
