GHS swim teams close out regular season

The Gloucester High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams ended their regular season on Feb. 3 at Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. Seniors Auggie Baker, Paige Willis, Summer Bayly, Tanysha Sanchez-Ramirez and Marleigh Chappell were celebrated during the meet.
Bayly set a new team record in the girls’ 200-yard individual medley during the meet, beating her prior record from January 2023, and placed second overall in the event. Sanchez-Ramirez dropped five seconds from her prior 200-yard freestyle time, while Chappell earned points for the team during relay events. Willis left the meet with her team record for the 200-yard medley relay intact.
The top point earners for the girls’ season this year were Bayly and juniors Rylee Kemnitz and Kendall Carucci.For the boys, Baker dropped 12 seconds off his 100-yard breaststroke during the meet.
