GHS swim competes in first meet

The Gloucester High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams competed in their first meet of the 2024-2025 season on Monday at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex, swimming against all 10 teams in the Peninsula District.
The Gloucester girls placed third overall out of the 10 teams. Standout swimmers were senior Summer Bayly in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke; senior Paige Willis in the 200-yard individual medley; and freshman Paula Ochoa in the 200-yard freestyle.
The boys ranked sixth overall. Standout swimmers were senior Augie Baker in the 100-yard backstroke; freshman Camden Hoercher in the 100-yard butterfly; and Hoercher and Baker with sophomores Aidan Mudrie and David Collawn in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
GHS swim teams compete on Monday evenings at 5 o’clock. They compete at Midtown Aquatic Center on Dec. 9; Hampton Virginia Aquaplex, Dec. 16; Midtown Aquatic Center on Jan. 13 and 27; and Hampton Virginia Aquaplex on Feb. 3. Senior night will be held during the Feb. 3 me...
