GHS softball receives post-season awards

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team’s season has come to an end, with several players receiving post-season awards from the Peninsula District or Eastern Region.
Freshman Hannah Horsley was named second team all-district and first team all-region by area coaches. Horsley was a mainstay in left field. At bat, she hit .442 on the season while driving in 22 runs.
Junior Grace Sinko-VanLiew was a first team all-district selection and a second team all-region pick. She is a repeat pick from the 2022 season, and has roamed centerfield for the past three seasons, hitting .300 this past year while adding 18 RBIs.
Senior Sadie Bowden was a second team all-district performer as a pitcher and as a utility player. She was also a second team all-region selection, also at the utility spot. Bowden was 10-4 on the mound with a 2.61 ERA. When Bowden was not pitching, she held down second base and hit .508 on the season with 50 runs scored while driving in 24 runs on 29 hits.
