GHS softball on three-game skid

Gloucester High School softball players have been on a three-game skid in recent action, falling to Great Bridge, Warwick and Hampton just before next week’s conference tournament. 
Host Great Bridge shut out the Dukes, 8-0, on Tuesday, dropping them to 16-3 on the season. Freshman Kayla Tobin started the first game of her career on the mound and pitched admirably, giving up only four earned runs to the number one ranked team in the state. 
Gloucester was able to garner only two hits on the day with a single from Morgan Haywood in the second inning and a single from Macy Robbins in the fourth. 
On Monday, Warwick defeated Gloucester, 13-2, at GHS. The Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and stretched it to 3-0 by the fourth. Gloucester cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth with a single from Kaleigh Arnett, who was driven in by Haywood with a triple. Alyssa Shackleford singled to bring in another run.
