The Gloucester High School varsity softball team lost one game and won another this past week.
GHS lost by a 22-7 margin to the Menchville Monarchs last Thursday. Gloucester gave up five runs in the top of the first inning, but scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Grace Sinko-VanLiew hit a three-run home run during the inning.
In the seventh inning, Coral Santos had an RBI and an RBI single by Kayla Pasipanki scored Alexis Dishman.
Gloucester defeated the Warwick Warriors, 18-0, Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Dukes took advantage of 11 Warwick walks and six errors.
Sinko-VanLiew and Hannah Horsley led the offense for Gloucester. Sinko-VanLiew had two hits including a triple, while Horsley had a double and three RBIs. Santos added a triple and an RBI and Makayla Hernandez had a hit and two RBIs.
