In another close and important game for the Gloucester High School varsity boys’ soccer team, the Dukes edged their Peninsula District rivals from Kecoughtan, 1-0, on the Warriors’ field on April 17. The Gloucester win snapped a 12-game district win streak for undefeated Kecoughtan.
After 70 minutes of scoreless play, Jordan White headed in a corner kick to break the stalemate. Lee Loudermilk played well in goal for Gloucester, allowing them to hang on for the win. GHS coach Trey Sowers was pleased with the Dukes’ performance and said it was a total team effort. "This was a great, hard fought win for the team," he said.
Gloucester will host Denbigh today and play a rescheduled match at Hampton on Monday.

The Gloucester junior varsity boys’ soccer squad found success against the Peninsula District rivals from Kecoughtan on April 18. The junior Dukes beat the visiting Warriors, 2-0, to improve to 4-0 in the district.
