GHS second in Tournament

After a 3-0 start against Peninsula teams, the Gloucester High School girls’ volleyball team took second place in the Endless Summer Tournament in Virginia Beach last weekend.

The Gloucester girls, competing in the bronze division, were the runners-up after losing to Granby. The Dukes came back from a 25-11 loss to win the second set, 25-20, but dropped an intense final set. GHS coach Christine Wilson said her team members played their best games yet in the tourney.

Gloucester opened the regular season schedule on Aug. 27 at Woodside and won by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-10. Victoria Wilson led the Dukes with seven aces, six kills and eight assists. Maddie Green had five kills and four digs and Jess Haley contributed nine assists, three aces and four kills.
