The Gloucester High School cross country teams hosted their first Peninsula District meet of the season on Sept. 13 at Beaverdam Park, with both the Gloucester boys and girls finishing ahead of Warwick and Hampton.
For the boys’ race, Gloucester had 17 points and Warwick had 63. Josh Shackelford won the race for the Dukes in 18:44. Eighth grader Tanner Baker was second in 19:01, although his points do not count.
Gloucester’s Andrew Wible was third in 19:17, Connor O’Beirne was fourth in 19:26, Colton Spence was sixth in 20:00 and Josh Ipock was seventh in 20:23.
The Gloucester girls had 15 points and swept the top five places while Hampton had 76 points. Ruby Williams won the race in 22:14, followed by Alyssa Lass in 22:26, Megan McGee in 23:11, Katie Saunders in 23:29 and Makala White was fifth in 23:56.
The Warwick girls and the Hampton boys did not field enough runners to score.
