The Gloucester High School crew won two titles during the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships in Occoquan on Saturday. The crew also had a third and fifth place finish in the state finals.
The first four of Elizabeth Keane, Kendall Worland, Gabby Lauer, Hannah Beverage and coxswain Matt Hendrix won its heat and took the final with a time of 6:06.7. The second four of Brianna Priode, Madison Hutson, Mikaela Extine, Hannah Cagle and coxswain Emily Freudenberg also won its heat and secured the gold by 11 seconds with a time of 6:37.2.
Adam Hedrick and Jacob Cheatham paired for the men’s double and placed second in their heat and third in the final with a time of 6:07.25. Also racing in the championships was the first four of Logan Hutson, Joel Kidd, Jeremy Frush, Chris Smith and coxswain Meagan Martin. This four advanced from the heats by .27 seconds and finished fifth in the final with a time of 5:29.4.
