The Gloucester High School crew had a great first outing of the season on Saturday, entering eight events and placing in each one in the Regional Park Regatta at Occoquan. The Dukes brought home three first-place wins, three second-place finishes and a pair of third-place showings.
The first four of Gabrielle Lauer, Elizabeth Keane, Kendall Worland, Elaina Arsenovic and coxswain Matthew Hendrix won its race in 6:05 and the men’s first four of Joel Kidd, Logan Hutson, Jacob Cheatham, Jeremy Frush and coxswain Meagan Martin also won. The women’s novice eight also placed first by 20 seconds in 6:10.
The junior four of Brianna Priode, Hannah Beverage, Mikaela Extine, Hannah Cagle and coxswain Johnny Anderson was second in 6:23. Also placing second in their events were the men’s and women’s novice fours with times of 6:21 and 6:08, respectively.
