GHS rowers place at Occoquan

The Gloucester High School rowing team turned in some good performances in its first trip to Occoquan this season. The Gloucester rowers saw four out of their six boats place first, second or third in the Regional Park Regatta.
The GHS second four of Rachel Ferreira, Emma Malise, Emily Freudenberg, Emily Poole and coxswain Amber Steiber won its race, beating the runners-up by over 40 seconds. The senior four of Maddie Lee, Bailey Hamilton, Mackenzie Marbain, Casey Martin and coxswain Meagan Martin was third among 15 boats. 
Zack Moore and Justin Poole placed second in the double. The senior four comprised of eighth graders Ashley Dough and Rachel Witt and sophomores Kassidy Brown and Maddy Hogge also placed second. 
The Gloucester men’s quad was fourth and the men’s novice four placed fifth. The rowers head to Williams Wharf this weekend for their first regatta in Mathews.
