Gloucester High School Indoor Track and Field athletes emerged from last weekend’s VHSL Class 4 Region A Championships with several school records crushed, a couple of podium finishes and 22 season bests.Competing at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton on Friday and Saturday, the Lady Dukes placed sixth as a team with 27 points, while the GHS boys came in eighth place with 32 points.

The GHS girls earned 12 new season bests and a new school record. In the girls’ 55-meter dash prelims, Deziray Bellinger placed sixth with a time of 7.64 seconds, which qualified her for the finals and Shyanne Carlton ran a season best of 8.56. In the 55-meter dash finals, Bellinger destroyed her own school record with a time of 7.56, placing her in fifth place.
Bellinger and Carlton also ran the 300-meter dash later on that day, both posting season bests. Bellinger ran a time of 44.91 placing eighth and Carlton ran a 49.93. In the 500-meter dash, Sarah Bullins placed 12th with a season best ...
