The Gloucester High School indoor track and field teams kicked off their season with three meets before the holiday break. The Dukes competed in the Peninsula District Meet #1, the Denbigh Holiday Classic and the Lampert Timing Indoor Track Meet #3.
Peninsula District Meet #1
The GHS Indoor Track and Field teams competed in their first Peninsula District meet of the season on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. The team performed well in its events with several athletes placing in the top 10 in their events.
Starting off for the running events was the girls’ 4x800-meter relay. The relay placed second and ran a time of 11:33.08.Deziray Bellinger placed seventh in the girls’ 55-meter dash with a time of 7.78. Steven Byrd placed first in the boys’ 55-meter dash with a time of 6.66. In the girls’ 300-meter dash, Shyanne Carlton placed 10th, running a time of 47.59.
