GHS Homecoming antics begin today

Gloucester High School has been gearing up for homecoming since Monday through its fall Spirit Week. A community parade to celebrate homecoming will be held today (Thursday, Oct. 20), beginning at 5:15 p.m. at Main Street Center and ending at Botetourt Elementary School.
Shannon Roane, a 1987 graduate of GHS and mother of GHS graduates Jordan and Carter Roane, will be this year’s grand marshal. Roane is an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the events coordinator for the Dukes Touchdown Club. She also helped the Student Council Association put on last year’s Homecoming Dance.
The homecoming tailgate will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at GHS before the homecoming game. There will be music, food and games. The GHS varsity football team will then take on the Warwick Raiders, with a 7 o’clock kickoff. At halftime, this year’s homecoming duke and duchess will be crowned and the GHS marching band will perform. The homecoming dance will be Saturday at GHS from 7-10 p.m.
