The Gloucester Dukes field hockey team stands at 11-1 after winning both games this past weekend at the Ring of Honor Tournament in Virginia Beach. The Lady Dukes defeated the Grizzlies of Grassfield, 5-0, and the Generals of Washington-Liberty, 6-0.
Against Grassfield, scoring was led by Leigha Germain who netted two shots. Ady Jeffery, Mackenzi Reece and Kendall Lands each scored once. Reese Miller recorded three assists while Avery Watkins had two. Hannah Symonds, Charlotte Houtz, Mary Ashton VanFossen and Chloe West had one assist each.
Against Washington Liberty, Miller scored twice while Germain, Jeffery, Kylee Hall and Peyton Sutton each scored once. Reece had three assist and Kamryn McDonough recorded two.
The wins at the tournament further cement the team at the top of the Peninsula District, where it is tied with Woodside and Menchville. The lady Dukes have already faced and defeated Menchville and are scheduled to take on Woodside later this month for Senior Night, Oct. 24.
