The Gloucester High School golf team won back-to-back tournaments in the Peninsula District last week.
The Dukes traveled to play at Cypress Creek in Smithfield on Aug. 13, where they won by 16 strokes over Menchville. Senior Blake Sibley led the way with a bogey free and five-under-par 67 to win the individual event by seven shots.
Freshman Levi Vannoy shot 78 to finish in third place individually and sophomore Fenton Scott tied for fourth by shooting 80. Rounding out scoring for the Dukes was Joseph Moritz with an 85, placing him seventh individually.
The second tournament of the week was held at Woodlands Golf Course in Hampton last Thursday, where the Dukes defeated Menchville by seven strokes. Once again, Sibley paced the field, shooting a one-under-par 68 to win the event by six shots. Vannoy finished in fifth place by shooting 80, Moritz tied for eighth at 85 and Scott tied for 10th, shooting 86.
