The Gloucester High School girls’ cross country team qualified for the Eastern Region Meet following last Thursday’s Peninsula District competition, which was held at Newport News Park. For the boys, Blake Waters was the only GHS runner to advance to the regional meet, which will be held today in Chesapeake.
The Gloucester boys came in fourth overall, just missing the regional bid. Waters, as a top six finisher individually, earned the regional meet berth. He came in sixth overall with a time of 17:43.
The Gloucester girls placed third as a team, led by Marianne Warrington who was third in the race in 21:24. Jasmin Scott was also in the top six for the Dukes with a sixth-place finish in 21:39.
