GHS girls post shutout wins over Phoebus, Bethel

The Gloucester High School girls’ soccer team earned a pair of wins over the past week. Last Thursday, the Lady Dukes defeated the Phoebus Phantoms, 11-0.
Hanna Heaton led the Lady Dukes offensively scoring four goals and recording one assist. Caroline Merchant had a hat trick with her three goals and also had one assist. Brooke Holloman, Avery Watkins, Mara Collier and Caitlyn Shelton scored once each.
Shelton and Collier had an assist to pair with their goals. Kaelyn Bleaks recorded three assists, while Kareena Ferguson, Cori Morgan and Andie Hartley recorded one assist each.
The Lady Dukes then recorded another shutout victory over Bethel High School on Monday, beating the Bruins, 8-0. Merchant and Morgan led the offense with two goals each, while Shelton, Heaton, Collier and Mia Holland scored one each.
Heaton and Shelton recorded two assists during the game, while Merchant, Aubree Dorsey and Kaelyn Blanks recorded one each. Goalie Julie Trist only had to make one save.
