The Gloucester High School crew competed in the Darryl Winslow Regatta in Occoquan on Saturday and came away with one first-place win and three second-place finishes.
The GHS first four of Kristen Hickman, Elizabeth Keane, Kendall Worland and Elaina Arsenovic, with coxswain Matt Hendrix, won by open water for the second consecutive week. The GHS four was second in its heat behind McLean in 6:06.8 but McLean scratched the final due to illness. The Gloucester rowers prevailed in the final with a time of 5:57.9 to finish seven seconds ahead of South County. The four was the first GHS women’s crew of the season to break the six-minute course time.
The novice four of Steven Gingues, Jackson Sites, Jake Tolefson, T.J. Steele and coxswain John Hogge placed second with a time of 6:31.4.
