GHS girls fall in state field hockey semifinals, 3-2

The Gloucester High School field hockey team’s quest for a state championship will have to wait until 2025, as the Lady Dukes fell short in Friday’s VHSL Class 4 state semifinals, 3-2.
Once again, Loudoun Valley stood in Gloucester’s way. Last year, the two teams met in the state championship game, with the Vikings winning, 2-1 in overtime to take the title. Loudoun Valley went on to repeat as state champions on Saturday, shutting out Chancellor, 3-0.
In Friday’s semifinal game, whic was held at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, Mackenzi Reece and Peyton Sutton scored the two Gloucester goals. Both goals were assisted by Reese Miller, and Charlotte Houtz assisted one.The Dukes ended their regular season with a 18-0-2 record as well as a district and regional championships under their belts.
Team honors
Reece Miller earned All Region Player of the Year and multiple athletes earned All Region honors.
