The Gloucester High School field hockey team won the last three games, advancing the team to the state semifinals this Friday.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, the Lady Dukes played the Phoebus Phantoms. The Dukes won that game in a mercy rule victory, 19-0, with the win sending Gloucester to Friday’s VHSL Region A championship.
On Friday, the GHS girls faced off with the Jamestown Eagles with the regional title on the line. The championship was a rematch of 2023, when Gloucester cruised to a 7-0 win to claim the crown. This time it was a little tougher, as Gloucester beat the visiting Eagles, 1-0, with Chloe West scoring the game’s only goal, with an assist from Reese Miller and Charlotte Houtz.
The VHSL Class 4 state tournament began Tuesday, with Gloucester hosting the Atlee Raiders. Gloucester won that match, 5-0.
