GHS defeats Woodside, 34-3

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team defeated the Woodside Warriors, 34-3, during Tuesday night’s away game. Gloucester trailed Woodside, 2-1, after the first inning and then overwhelmed the Warriors in later innings.
The Lady Dukes achieved 24 hits during the game. Pitcher Sadie Bowden had a big day at the plate as the lead-off hitter, going 5-5 with two doubles and two triples while driving in five runs. Sam Carlton went 5-6 with five RBIs. Kayla Pasipanki went 4-4 with a double, triple and four RBIs, while Hannah Horsley drove in four runs with a 3-4 day. Cameron Palas contributed a single and a double and added three RBIs.
On the mound, Bowden picked up the win by giving up two hits while striking out four.
Gloucester will host Woodside tonight, Heritage on Tuesday and Manor next Wednesday. The Lady Dukes will travel to Heritage next Thursday. All games have a 4:30 p.m. start time.
