The Gloucester High School boys’ tennis team posted two wins in recent play, beating Woodside 5-4 on Tuesday and Hampton 7-2 last Thursday.
Against the Wolverines, third seed Wesley Keeter got a 6-3, 7-5 win after his first and second-seeded teammates, Sam Markwith and Justin Edington, lost their matches. Fourth seed Elliott Theuerkauf also had a tough loss. He dropped his first set 3-6, came back to win the second 6-0, but lost the tiebreaker 5-10. Fifth seed Daniel Osborne won 6-1, 6-0 and sixth seed Ian Hardee won 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, Markwith and Theuerkauf lost 0-8, but Edington and Keeter won 8-1 and Osborne and James Hutzler teamed for an 8-4 win.
At Hampton, Markwith lost to the Crabbers’ top seed Myles Golden 4-6, 2-6 and, playing at sixth seed, Brandon Parker lost 2-6, 3-6. Winning for the Dukes were Keeter at second seed, Theuerkauf at third seed, Osborne at fourth seed and Hardee at fifth seed. Markwith and Theuerkauf won their doubles match 8-...
