Gloucester varsity baseball players added two wins and a loss to their record in recent action. The Dukes closed a three-game home stand on April 17 with a 12-run shutout of visiting Heritage.
The Gloucester offense was firing on all cylinders in the win, paced by Jacob Houston with a single, a double and a home run for six RBIs. Josh Martin had two doubles, Adam Baldwin and Brian Belvin each had a double and a single, Ethan Sabo contributed a pair of hits and Tyler Wood added a hit. Baldwin and Martin had two RBIs each.
Michael Clements worked the early mound and tallied nine outs through nine batters. Houston closed the game in the top of the fifth, keeping the shutout intact in the mercy rule win.
The Dukes defeated visiting Bethel, 7-1, on April 14 with Jacob Brown going the distance on the mound. The Bruins scored their only run in the top of the seventh but Brown extinguished the mini-rally with a strikeout.
