Laura Tobin, a member of the Gloucester High School Class of 2020, has earned two significant awards this season while playing for the Meredith College, North Carolina, Avenging Angels softball team in her third season.
Tobin was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All District team. The CSC recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field, as well as in the classroom. Tobin is a business administration major with a grade point average of 3.6.
She was also named the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player. Tobin has been positioned at third base, second base, shortstop and the outfield during her career. She finished her season with a .924 fielding percentage and hit .295 this spring with 18 RBIs. Tobin is scheduled to graduate in December and will be deciding on graduate school and playing her senior season or entering the working world.
