The Guinea Heritage Association will hold its second annual “Wonders of the Water” program for boys and girls ages 5-10 at Buck’s Store Museum, Bena, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 29. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the waterman heritage of the Guinea area.
In small groups, the children will move through learning stations about how to identify different types of boats, how to clean a fish, how to tong for oysters, how crab pots are made and work, and how to identify the life cycle of a crab and more. Along the way, they will participate in craft projects (e.g., fish prints) and have their “passports” stamped.
Registration is free but limited to 25 children. Sign up through the Guinea Heritage Association website, www.guineaheritage.org.
