Guinea Heritage Association scholarship chair Sharon Zuber announced this year’s GHA scholarships during the Sept. 11 Guinea Heritage Day program.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Kenneth & Patricia A. Hall Charitable Foundation, the GHA was able to award five scholarships this year.
The $1,000 C.B. Rowe Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Isabelle Pohorence. Pohorence is attending Rappahannock Community College after which she plans to transfer to the University of Virginia, where she will study accounting.
The $1,000 Guinea Heritage Association Scholarship was awarded to Ayden Embry. Embry is studying history at Mary Baldwin University and hopes to work along the coastlines around the world discovering and studying lost shipwrecks.
Two $1,000 Mac Sisson Technical/Vocational Scholarships were renewed this year, one to Gracie King and the other to Rebekah White. King will complete her associate’s degree in the spring from RCC in the health/STEM field and will be awarded a phl...
