Gerald Arthur George, 79, of Gloucester, died Oct. 14, 2014 at Walter Reed Convalescent Center.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and as a State Trooper. Being a State Trooper in Virginia brought him to Mathews County where he met and married Ann. He later progressed into the rope business, ending up owning his own business, George Products.
He was a man of integrity, honesty and character. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Ann George; son, Michael George; daughters, Linda G. Hertzler and husband Joe, and Becky Piercy and husband Scott; brothers, John George and wife Nancy, and Bill George and wife Judy; and grandchildren, Antonia Hertzler, Charles Piercy and Henry Piercy.
A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Gary Barker will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Christ Church, Kingston Episcopal Parish, 320 Williams Wharf Road, Mathews, Va. 23109. Interment will follow in the Christ Church Kingston Parish Cemetery.
