GEORGE EDWARD TURNER

George Edward Turner of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 23, 1937 to Edward Murray and Lillian Kay Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia Okraski and Ann Turner. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Suzanne W. Turner; sister, Rebecca (Gary) Lee; daughters, Lori Jo (Roger) Walters and Lissa (Tom Rodriguez) Doneson, and stepchildren, Kathryn L. (Ashley) Chriscoe, and Eric D. (Lauren) Cartwright. He loved spending time and entertaining his grandchildren/step- grandchildren, Melissa Athey, Meghan Sparks, Danielle Doneson, Miranda West, Kelsey West (Peyton) Brooks, and Braden West, as well as his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Bellamy, Riley, Hadley, Bryson, and Ethan. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Early in his adult life, he served in the Army stationed at Governors Island and Vietnam. He graduated from Chillicothe High School and Christopher Newport College. While George spent most of his career as an engineering technician for various subcontractors at NASA, he also made the most of his spare time gardening, running, biking, teaching aerobics, and flying his airplane. He was quite the tinkerer and could fix about anything. After retirement, he enjoyed building furniture and woodworking.
