George Leo Benoit, age 82, of Gwynn, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in the hospital with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Benoit, of 61 years; children, Scott (Jean) and Lisa; grandchildren, Timothy (Ashley), Anthony (Krista), Erica, Tonya, Madysen, and Logan; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Halsey, Liam, and Jaxen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lorraine, and children, Gary and Robin Benoit.

George was born on June 2, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Howell Chaney Technical School as a machinist. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Allied Instrument & Tool until he moved with his family to Mathews, Va., in 1988, where he purchased and ran Horn Harbor Marina for two years. Then he worked for Cheatham Annex as a machinist until he retired in 2009. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, boating, woodworking, and bird watching.

A private family memorial was held to celebrate his life.
