GEOFFREY JAMES DELARA

Geoffrey James DeLara, 58, of Gloucester, Va., better known to most as Ron Jeffries, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024.

Born on June 2, 1966 to the late James and Judith Blatt DeLara, Ron grew up in the Gloucester area and knew from an early age that music was his love and he wanted to be involved in radio. He spent most of his career in Richmond and Virginia Beach, but for the last 15 years he was operations manager for 104.9 WIGO Country and Classic Hits 101.7 Bay FM and host of the Classic Hits Morning Show. During his down time, Ron enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, and was a big American history buff, especially anything concerning the American Revolutionary War.

Ron is survived by his son, David DeLara (Wesley Duckett) of Marietta, Ga.; sisters, Julie DeLara of Gloucester, and Patricia Morgan of Denver, Colo., and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at Bellamy United Methodist Church in Gloucester.
