Actor/interpreter Mark Schneider of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation will portray the Marquis de Lafayette in a program on Sunday afternoon in Gloucester.
The Augustine Warner Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is sponsoring the program that will be held at 2 p.m. in the colonial courthouse, 6504 Main Street.
“Be transported back in time to the American Revolution and meet General Lafayette, George Washington’s adopted son,” a release from Augustine Warner NSDAR stated. “Hear about Lafayette’s heroics in the Revolutionary War and discover his passion for freedom as he champions emancipation of the enslaved and women’s rights.”
Schneider initially planned to be a teacher or a professor, earning a degree in history from Christopher Newport University. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, and in 1997, he accepted a position working with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
