More than 100 people packed Gloucester’s colonial courthouse Sunday afternoon to hear actor/interpreter Mark Schneider of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as he enthralled the audience portraying Revolutionary War hero the Marquis de Lafayette. In the hourlong program, Schneider played the part of Lafayette coming to visit Gloucester as part of his 1824 tour of the United States. The Augustine Warner Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, sponsored the program as part of Gloucester’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Revolution. At the conclusion of the talk, DAR chapter regent Alison Johnston presented Schneider a hand-forged Gloucester daffodil, created by the Village Blacksmith, as a token of appreciation.
