The second annual Gloucester County Public Schools Oratorical Competition has been postponed from Feb. 25 to next Friday, March 7.
The competition is sponsored by the Gloucester Branch of the NAACP and the Woodville Rosenwald School Foundation and will be held at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester, Main Street Center, from 9 a.m. until noon.
This year’s theme is “Dreams Deferred: What Responsibility Do You Have to Help Others Achieve Their Dreams?” Participating students in grades eight through 12 will prepare speeches based on that theme and read them aloud. They will be judged on the content of their speeches, as well as their speaking skills.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, email GCPS Director of Secondary Instruction Dr. Diron Ford at diron.ford@gc.k12.va.us.
