Garry Dwayne Coffie, 61, of North, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Irwin, Tenn., to the late Hillard and Margie Griffey Coffie. He was retired from Newport News Fire Department as a Lieutenant after 30 years’ service.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite A. Coffie; a cousin, Victoria Ryan, and aunt, Berdie Sparks.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Gloucester Point Baptist Church with a memorial service by the Rev. Ray Goude Jr. at 2 p.m. in the church.
