Garrett Memorial Golf Benefit to be held Aug. 20

The 13th annual Dale Garrett Memorial Golf Benefit will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Golden Eagle Golf Course in Irvington, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
The family of Dale Garrett hosts this annual benefit to support a friend who is battling cancer. This year, proceeds will go to Tricia Phillips of Hampton.
Phillips was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 and treated with surgery. However, in 2022, tests confirmed the cancer had returned, was Stage 4 and had traveled to her bones, liver, lungs and colon. She has undergone extensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments in hopes of shrinking the tumors, as the spread is too extensive for surgery.
“She remains positive, hopeful and, above all, blessed to have the ability to keep making memories with her family,” a release stated.
