Boy Scout Troop #113 recently completed a project at Woodville Park in cooperation with Gloucester Extension Master Gardeners. Master Gardeners Steve Faherty, Abigail Countiss and Chris Conley contributed instruction along with topsoil. The scouts learned techniques for effective gardening as well as hazard prevention. An assortment of vegetable and fruit plants, as well as bulbs and seeds, was planted in large, raised beds. The vegetables grown will be sold to defray the cost of the scouts attending an upcoming camp as well as being donated to local foodbanks throughout the summer and fall. The Farmer’s Daughter, Brent and Becky’s and Gloucester Extension Master Gardeners donated supplies and equipment for this project.
